SUMMARY
Prospective study carried out in 42 patients with hip osteoarthritis treated by means of a single intra-articular infiltration of autologous stromal vascular fraction obtained from adipose tissue. During the six-/ month follow-up, significant improvements were observed in the scales used to assess function, symptoms and pain. Patients with less advanced osteoarthritis showed better clinical results, whereas imaging tests showed no significant changes in the articular cartilage.

CONCLUSION
The intraarticular infiltration of autologous SVF was associated with a short-term improvement in symptoms and hip function, although no significant changes were observed in radiological or magnetic resonance imaging assessments.
Limitations
The study did not include a control group and the follow-up was limited to six months. Moreover, the sample was relatively small and the effect of different doses or repeated infiltrations was not evaluated. Although clinical improvements were observed, no significant changes in the cartilage were detected by imaging tests. The authors themselves point to the need for studies with a larger number of patients, comparison groups, and longer follow-ups.
RELEVANCE TO EONLIFE
The study directly analyzes the intra-articular application of cells derived from the autologous vascular fraction in patients with hip osteoarthritis. Its results provide clinical information about the potential of cellular therapies derived from adipose tissue to reduce symptoms and improve joint function in the short term.
